Fluent in all aspects of the design process, I consider myself a jack of all trades (and master of none). I am continually trying to learn from peers around me as well as teach something when I can. From large projects to small I take a similar approach to the process below focusing on certain areas over the others depending on customer needs, what stage the project is in, and the team building it.
Defining the problem, understanding our users needs is critical to a project's success. This can be performed during team kickoff meetings to get everyone aligned on objectives. During this stage we also perform types of competitive analysis, quantitative and qualitative research exposing insights and solidifying the solution.
Information architecture is the base to any project, sitemaps, user-flows as well as user personas are created to understand how the project will work and for user centric design to take shape. Red routes and major interactions are established to get users to their main objectives as quickly and easily as possible.
From quick sketches and wireframing to high fidelity prototypes I use heuristics and feedback to create experiences that serve a purpose while remaining empathetic to the user. After approval of mockups annotated versions are created and delivered to development.
User testing is where we learn if the solution works, using software and/or in-person interviews we can validate externally and internally if our changes are working. Also analytics and other metrics are reviewed to find hints of success or failure, where we can pivot and make changes.
Design is never finished, we always learn something new from our users and research. Egos must be left at the door so that we can retain a cyclic process of prototyping, testing, analyzing, and refining a product or process. Based on the results of testing the most recent iteration of a design, changes and refinements are made.
I also can create animations for devs to better get a grasp of what we are after. I also have experience working on version control systems and can jump in where needed to help on frontend tasks. With a history in graphic design I can also help with branding, marketing collaterals, SEO optimization and any other design needed to help products reach their full potential.
As a Product Design Lead based in the city of Portland, Oregon, I thrive on the exhilarating challenge of solving complex design problems. With a passion for innovation and a keen eye for detail, I bring over 15 years of experience to the table, crafting intuitive and visually captivating solutions that push boundaries and exceed expectations.
Beyond the world of design, I find solace and inspiration in spending quality time with my family, exploring the beautiful outdoors that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Whether it's hiking through the mountains or enjoying a peaceful camping trip, I believe in finding balance between professional excellence and personal fulfillment.
