Two Brothers Racing sells the best sounding motorcycle exhaust systems out there. It’s easy to hear on their website by watching videos of various bikes with systems on them to get a feel for how a customers bike would sound. But through their biggest channel the dealer network, the dealers were having a tough time convincing a customer to purchase a $800+ exhaust system without firing a bike up and hearing it for themselves.
We came up with a game plan to deliver an app that would help dealers, distributors and outside sales reps show off their new V-twin product on mobile device and let the customer listen to how their bike will sound with the new system on.
Sales reported an increase in dealer sales and re-orders via the new app rollout, customers felt safe that they made the right purchase after hearing how their bike would sound.
A kickoff meeting was held with all the TBR stakeholders and they filled out questionnaires on what this mobile app should be and for who. At first it was a wide range of ideas from a social networking app for consumers to sharing their bike on the companies website. We finally narrowed it down via the Sales Manager and myself to something useful to help drive sales through the companies best feature, Sound.
We jumped into creating personas for who would use this app, 3 were made: Dealer / Distributor / Sales Rep. Then red routes were made for getting these users straight to the information they need.
After the users were set, I jumped into sketches for the app, talking with the sales manager who was the lead for TBR we quickly banged out some drawings then went into high fidelity prototypes.
Designs were finalized and we liked how the bikes sounded on the app, internal testing as well as dealer testing was conducted and everyone was happy with how it sounded and looked. Dealers were even plugging them into their sound systems in their stores and cranking the volume up to let their customers get the full experience of the TBR V-Twin app. iOS and Android versions were created and we launched the product with internal sales reps email their accounts as well as sending out e-mail blasts to the dealer and distributor networks.
